ABSTRACT

Abstract This paper proposes analytical models that are capable of predicting the yield strength of T-joints comprised of hollow square sections (HSS), utilizing the concept of a double-chord under both direct compression and direct tension forces. Plastic failure mechanisms are suggested and the yield line theory is employed to estimate the joints' yield strength. The validity of these models is examined by comparing the analytical predictions with the experimental results. Keywords: T-Joints, Double Chord Trusses, Yield line Analysis, Experiments, Strength.
