Although experimental investigations on fatigue have concentrated mainly on determination of stress concentration factors near the weld toes, numerical research has usually been conducted excluding modelling of the weld dimensions. This numerical research programme sponsored by STW(The Netherlands Technical Foundation) is being carried out at Delft university of technology for determination of stress/strain concentration factors of multiplanar KK-gap and KK-overlap jOints in rectangular and circular hollow sections. The finite element modelling includes the weld shape.
