ABSTRACT

The novel idea of the on-site, at-work model has evolved through the use of methods that enable injured workers to get back to work faster while saving money for the employer and cutting workers’ compensation costs. Employers must pay for medical services and provide compensatory payment for lost wages as long as the employee is unable to work. This usually represents 80% of the worker’s current salary or wage. By finding work that the employee is able to perform, the company reduces its liability and the worker gets better faster. Thus, the mission of the on-site occupational health and rehabilitation team is dedicated to continuously improving patient/employee care. The commitment is to design and implement occupational health programs for companies that have integrated group health, workers’ compensation, and disability management for both occu pational and nonoccupational injuries and illnesses affecting the employee’s abil ity to perform in the workplace. The team’s mission is to build a support system by remaining at the forefront of medical technology and rehabilitative health care delivery, preventing disease, promoting wellness, and thereby being responsible corporate citizens. This is accomplished by recognizing that criteria have been set for quality, price, and service.
