ABSTRACT
The sample is relatively large compared to short-span specimens and has an unobstructed surface, unlike the Weyerhaeuser method. Strain was directly mea sured with displacement gauges, similar to setups for direct measurement of tensile strain. This eliminated the influence of clamping on strain and stiffness measure ments.
