ABSTRACT

Duringthe1980s,manyoccupationalstressresearcherscametoadvocatea person-environmentfitmodelforunderstandingworkstress(Harrison, 1985).Accordingtothisview,tounderstandtheexperienceofworkstress, onemustconsidertheenvironment,bothsubjectiveandobjective,thatthe individualisencountering(i.e.potentialsourcesofoccupationalstressand theirmagnitude).Examplesofsomewidelyexaminedsourcesofoccupational stressincluderoleoverload,roleconflict,roleambiguity,jobfutureambiguity, underutilizationofskills,andpoorworkrelationships(Burke,1988).
