ABSTRACT

The successful commercial development of chemical processes depends on a number of economic factors. These include, among many others, the type of energy and raw materials available, personnel, transportation, investment costs, environmental and safety regulations, the market situation, etc. Temperatures and pressures are defined with the aim of achieving the highest possible eco nomic yield. It is thus frequently necessary to use materials with particular me chanical, physical and corrosion-resistance properties. In many cases, it has only been possible to scale up processes from the laboratory to a commercially feasible level after suitable materials have become available.
