1. INTRODUCTION
While ni-Nitrides are being developed primarily for use in devices requiring blue emission, such as CD lasers or full color displays, or for high temperature electronics, there are a number of other niche applications for which they may be well suited. As in the more traditional applications, their combination of wide bandgap and good thermal stability is essential, but it is other properties such as low electron affinity and rather ionic bonding character which make them suitable for a number of new applications. The following sections outline several of these more novel uses.
