ABSTRACT

ONE of the major requirements in O SHA’s Confined Space Entry Standard is to ensure that the hazards within a permit-required confined space have been removed or isolated. Removing the hazard is always the best way in which to protect entrants-however, removing all the hazards is, in many cases, impossible. Thus, OSHA requires the control o f hazard ous energy using isolation, blanking or blinding, disconnection, and/or lockout/tagout procedures.
