ABSTRACT

This high injury rate occurs for several reasons. Chief among them is that all of the major classifications of hazards exist at wastewater treatment facilities-with the exception (usually) of radioactivity. These classifications include the following:

oxygen deficiency (less than 19.5% oxygen) physical hazards toxic gases and vapors infections fire explosions electrocution

Obviously, though, many industries have many of the same types of hazards in their workplaces. If this is the case-and it is-then why are those industry rates lower than waterlwastewater treatment facility injury rates?
