ABSTRACT
Investigation of mechanical properties of the binary M g - R E alloys made possible the
assessment of every separate rare earth metal and the choice of the most favourable of them
for development of commercial materials. Almost al l binary M g - R E systems were studied
with determination of mechanical properties of the alloys, but in different volume. Mos t
attention was paid to systems with attractive characteristics of the alloys and the less
expensive rare earth metals, keeping in mind the possibility to realise commercial
production of the alloys in industry.
