ABSTRACT
In [426] the wrought semiproducts of the alloy M S R (QE22A) were studied. The alloy
was homogenized at 525°C followed by cooling either by quenching in water or in a
furnace. Afterwards hot extrusion with cross area reduction of 70% and ageing were carried
out. Extrusion temperature was chosen in the range 1 0 0 - 4 0 0 ° C . Age ing was conducted at
200°C with various exposures from 1 to 48 h. Hot extrusion increased significantly the
strength properties of the alloy. Thus, in the case of quenching in water and extrusion at
100°C the alloy showed TS = 400 M P a , T Y S = 360 M P a at E = 2.5%. The strength
properties decreased and plasticity increased with rising extrusion temperature, so that they
amounted to TS = 330 M P a , T Y S = 300 M P a , E = 15%, when the alloy was hot worked at
400°C.
