ABSTRACT

The population pressure which has created food shortage(s) dominates the Asian economies and ultimately their political scenario. These developing countries constitute 3.1 billion of the world population of 5.2 billion with population growth ranging between 2 to 3%. This obviously necessitates increased food supply through improved crop production technologies using agrochemicals. The losses due to ravages of pests in these countries are estimated at ~33% of the potential yield.
