ABSTRACT

Despite the fact that health and safety at work has been a concern over many years, most recently in relation to the use of computing equipment, information systems developers still seem to see health and safety as someone else’s responsibility. Although information systems developers would find it hard to disagree with the contention that one aim of information systems development should be to produce information systems which do not put the health and safety of their users at risk, it is not obvious that much effort has been expended generally to incorporate consideration of health and safety into the literature on the information systems design process.
