The Global Harmonization Task Force

The Global Harmonization Task Force was formed in September, 1992 with the goal of facilitating the mutual recognition of quality system approvals relating to medical devices. The Task Force was sponsored by the European Commission and is made up of delegates from industry and government in Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, Mexico, and the United States. At its first meeting, the Task Force set as its goal the assurance that the internationally recognized ISO 9000 series of quality system standards was interpreted in each country's law in an equivalent way.
