ABSTRACT

The one-dimensional results are displayed in Figures 4.1-4.4, in which Wh{t)

(bold line) and Uh(t) (dashed line) are displayed together in one plot, while for

the two-dimensional results, Figures 4.5 and 4.6, we just display the vorticity

Wh(t). Figures 4.1 and 4.2 show the evolution of Wh and Uh from some given

initial data (top left-hand subplots) to their steady-states (bottom right-hand

subplots). Figure 4.1 displays the evolution of two blocks of vorticity (one

positive, one negative) under the influence of a positive constant magnetic field

with no flux pinning and no boundary nucleation of vorticity.
