ABSTRACT

One of the first and main authors who have contributed to establish the foundation of a design theory from a cognitive viewpoint is Herbert A. Simon—who has analyzed design also from several other viewpoints. It may be, however, that this fame in design circles no longer holds among present-day students. Coyne (2005) notes that "the students in our architecture school are more familiar with Heidegger and Derrida than with Simon" (p. 13).
