ABSTRACT
Silica fume has not been widely used in the UK, probably for no other reasons than it is considered expensive, there is only a minor production capacity and it is generally associated with high strength concrete (the economics of producing high strength concrete through the use of silica fume are probably similar to producing it by water/cement control).
