ABSTRACT
The orientational, chiral, and translational variants present in a given specimen of a ferroic material, alongwith the interfaces separating the variants, constitute its domain structure. We arbitrarily divide the discussion of domain structure into two parts, and put off a detailed discussion of the interfaces to Chapter 8. In this chapter we focus attention predominantly on the characteristics of the variants or domain states themselves.
