ABSTRACT

The paper deals with an experimental and numerical research project concerning the behavior of stone masonry. In situ shear and compression tests were performed on wall - panels obtained from buildings in old Tuscany communes recently interested in an earthquake. Numerical F.E. simulations were performed to reach a better understanding of the material behavior and to check material parameter values to be employed for the modeling of whole buildings. Experimental setup and first results are presented, together with the scheme of the numerical simulations.
