ABSTRACT
The Mexican Government iniciated the Maquiladora programme in 1965 with the purpose of promoting foreign investment as well as increasing exports from Mexico. The programme allows the import of materials and semifinished products to Mexico to be processed into final products, which must be then exported back to their country of origin.
