ABSTRACT
Inspection can be defined as 'viewing closely in critical appraisal'.' This definition implies that a set of standards exist which serve as a source of guidelines for comparison purposes. It also implies that a predetermined reason for inspection exists. Before beginning a discussion on the 'how to' aspect of inspection, a clarification of the purpose and standards is essential.
