ABSTRACT

A similar procedure was described by Nakatani et al. [68-71] to prepare polyacrylamide coatings via Si-C linkages. Compared to conventional coatings bonded through siloxane linkages, the coatings via Si-C linkages exhibit a better stability under alkaline pH con· ditions (pH 8-9). As the EOF was almost suppressed, the coated capillaries were used for CE applications in the presence SDS and a sieving matrix, to stabilize the polymeric medium (cross-linked polyacrylamide gel [69], linear polyacrylamide solution [68,69], or a pullulan solution [70]). In contrast to the Si-0-Si-C bonded coating, the polyacrylamide coating via Si-C linkage was stable when exposed at 30°C and pH 7, as illustrated in Fig. 6, for the CZE separation of basic proteins [71]. A rapid deterioration was noted above pH 10.
