ABSTRACT

Some researchers evaluated the potential of TSP with nonpolar, normal-phase LC solvents (n-hexane, cyclohexane, and dichloromethane) [16]. Using a normal-phase eluent instead of a reversedphase eluent and, working with the PI mode, they noticed a 10-fold enhancement of the detection limit, whereas in the NI mode, both types of elements showed the same sensitivity for several chlorophenols. The LC separation method, using nonvolatile buffers and ionpair reagents which cannot be introduced into a TSP-MS interface,
