ABSTRACT

Figure 33 shows typical charge-discharge curves of BQN in a glass beaker cell under galvanostatic conditions in PC and mixed PC + DME electrolytes. The mass of BQN in the electrode was 85 mg and the cycling current was 1.0 mA cm-2. The charge process corresponds to cathodic intercalation of Li into the matrix, and the discharging is the reverse reaction. The electrolyte solutions with higher conductivities (where higher current densities are observed in the CV experiments) seem to be preferable for the charge-discharge cycling of Li on BQN. It is notable that there are only slight variations in the charge-discharge curves with repeated cycles. Relatively small changes in the x-ray diffraction profiles (Fig. 32 and Table 4) are related to small changes in the chargedischarge curves. These characteristics will be advantageous for a practical battery.
