ABSTRACT

In this Section IV of the book you'll find several articles devoted to design rules for gasketed joints, rules either taken from or proposed for the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Each such article has been written by one or more experts and so is authoritative. Some of the codified rales, however, may mystify those who know little about the complex behavior of the gasketed joint. These rules, furthermore, deal only with the kinds of pressure vessel joints used in petrochemical, process industries, or similar applications and so will be of little interest to those in automotive or other industries.
