ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews the implications of these developments through a comparison of parameters affected by the new rule proposals versus the traditional
flange design rules. The nature and effect of the new aspects of the proposed new rules will be discussed along with broad parametric comparisons of key ratios such as bolt areas and moments for a simple ring geometry and some detailed comparisons of specific flanges. Tabular and graphical comparisons are presented with observations about which aspects of the new rules have the greatest impact on flange design as well as the range and the limits of these impacts.
