ABSTRACT
Accurate control of clamping force is difficult, so it helps to understand some of the many things that can affect results. Such understanding can lead to modest improvements in bolt-up procedures, and these can make the difference between acceptable and unacceptable joint life and behavior. The main goal of this chapter, in fact, is to review some of the common assembly problems we must be able to cope with.
