ABSTRACT

Figure 2.4 shows the relationship of the unconfined compressive strength with the dry density for a case where masa soil from different locations with the grain size distributions shown in Figure 2 . 5 are improved by the addition of 3% of slag cement. Other studies for various grain size distributions of landfill soils, such as different gravel fraction contents and adjusted fines content, were also performed. Through these studies, the following relationships between the type of soil and the unconfined compressive strength were confirmed. 1 . The increase in strength of masa soil made of weathered granite varies if it is obtained from different locations. 2 . If the gravel fraction content varies, the strength increase also varies. 3. The strength increase varies according to the properties of the fines content and the percentage of cement added. Therefore, when designing the improvement of ground using this method, it is essential to perform soil properties testing and mix proportion testing for each of the landfill soils to be used .
