ABSTRACT
A methodical and analytical approach to the design of any project is an essential element if it is to have a successful outcome.
Without adequate information, little worthwhile detailed design on any project can be progressed and the resulting guesswork will mean that a designer is likely to produce either an under-design or an over-estimate of the requirements on the project. This can result in delays and excess cost to the project and can give rise to unnecessary contractual claims.
