ABSTRACT
The pn-junction is, without doubt, the most important building block in semiconductor technology. Most devices are produced by special arrangements of pn-junctions. Therefore, a thorough discussion of the pn-junction's physical properties is a prerequisite to understand the operation of diodes, transistors, thyristors, etc.
