ABSTRACT
IT is generally acknowledged that plants have a highly advanced chemical potential, especially with respect to the synthesis of different, often complex, molecules. Indeed, a plant could be considered as a "model laboratory" that traps energy from the sun via photosynthesis and provides mankind with a wide range of useful substances. Some of these substances are already being utilized, while others are being developed for medicinal and dietary applications.
