ABSTRACT

This is a long chapter, interposed between the chapters discussing the functions in ~1 and J71• It is devoted to the study of the polynomials Pn(z,y),Qn(z,y) E Z[z,y). Their basic properties are given in Theorem 4.2 and their generating functions g(z, y; t) and h(z, y; t) are shown in ( 4.22) and ( 4.23) to be elliptic functions respectively satisfying the differential equations

Various other differential equations involving g and h are obtained, as well as a collection of identities satisfied by Pn(z, y) and Qn(z, y).
