ABSTRACT

We discuss the well-posedness of the linear initial boundary value problem (1 .10), (1 .1 1 ), (1 .7), (1 .8), i.e. the linearized differential equations

and Dirichlet1-Dirichlet boundary conditions (if fl ^ W 1)

in Sobolev2 spaces using semigroup theory. Then we shall give a description of the general asymptotic behavior of solutions as time t -» oo. Decay rates will be discussed in Chapters 3 and 4. Additional boundary conditions are examined in Chapter 9.
