ABSTRACT

Abstract Steel fibre concrete materials technology and the shotcrete production technique have been sucessfully merged to meet the needs of a number of application areas. The paper describes the rationale for the use of steel fibre shotcrete and the needs of further development in various areas. The need for integrated development incorporating owner requirements, structural design, materials technology, production technique and production machinery is stressed. Areas of importance in future research are mentioned as well as likely future developments of the technique.
