ABSTRACT
Today much instrumentation exists to: assist inspectors in performing their tasks; automate repetitive tasks, especially manual tasks such as material handling; enhance the perfonnance of the inspector; replace the inspector entirely; or per fonn a task not possible by a person. Some of this instrumentation incorporates machine vision technology either to enhance perfonnance or replace the inspector.
