ABSTRACT

In most polymer molding processes, the final product quality is determined by the melting, flowing, and mixing of the polymer during the process in which the design of molded parts, molds, and molding processes (referred to as the molding activities) play an important role. The traditional trial-and-error approach on the optimal design of the molding activities is not sufficient to support contemporary polymer product development due to the increasing demand for the high product quality and shorter tooling and production lead-times.
