ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a practical guide to the concepts and applications of multi dimensional NMR spectroscopy. The basic principles of two-dimensional (2D) NMR are described, and the experimental considerations common to all 2D ex periments are discussed. At the end of the chapter, these concepts are extended to include three-and four-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. Each of the major types of multidimensional NMR experiments is described briefly, with emphasis on the information content, rather than on the mathematical basis for these experiments. Some applications of each type of experiment are described, with additional ap plications included in subsequent chapters.
