I. INTRODUCTION

While organic polymer films or membranes have enjoyed over two decades of commercial success, inorganic films are just making their inroads into a growing number of commer cial applications. Most of these inorganic membranes are ceramic mixed oxides or metallic films that typically exhibit stabilities at high temperatures and extreme pH conditions [1 ,2 ]. Organoinorganic polymer films are also advantageous when compared to their organic counterparts.
