ABSTRACT

Any attempt to improve the performance of constrained resources must begin with the right question. In addressing the choices, it is important not to be misdirected by preconceived notions of what activities will be necessary. An improvement just for the sake of improving may actually reduce profitability. The question that should be asked is, How can the Throughput of the company be increased, given the current situation? Properly framed, the question can be properly answered.
