Sarcocysts were up to 22 mm long and up to 150 μm wide.407 Viewed by LM, the sarcocyst wall has minute protrusions with a hobnail appearance (Figure 15.1). Ultrastructurally, vp are up to
1.5 μm long, spaced unevenly on the sarcocyst wall. The vp are lined with a thick electron-dense layer, microtubules are absent from the vp and the ground substance layer, type 9c. Bradyzoites are slender 7-10 μm long and have numerous micronemes.407
