ABSTRACT
Initial revisions on species-systematic of genus Sarcocystis by Levine and Tadros1048 reported 93 species in 1980; later, Levine1049 listed 122 in 1986; and more recently, Odening1317 listed 189 in 1998. Here, we summarize the current status in 7 categories A-G (Tables 24.1 and 24.2): A, species with full life cycle known, including endogenous stages; B, with denitive and intermediate hosts known; C, with denitive host unknown; D, partial description of sarcocysts; E, species inquirendae; F, species invalid; and G, species synonymized here.
