ABSTRACT
During extensive modernization of the Winter Stadium in Bratislava, its steel roof
structure was reconstructed. The original reinforced concrete skeleton with plan
dimensions of 70.0 x 100.0 m was built over the period 1943 - 52. The raised seat-
ing around the ice rink was covered by a reinforced concrete decking with an
8.0 m overhang supported by a continuous girder in turn. This was supported by
round reinforced concrete columns located 10 m apart. The load-bearing system
for the raised seating was a transverse frame (Figure 5.1).
