ABSTRACT

With advances in biotechnology, genomics, and combinatorial chemistry, a wide variety of new, more potent, and specic therapeutics are being created. Most of the therapeutic agents possess the problem of poor solubility or high potency or poor stability, etc. Hence, there is a need for a proper drug delivery system that can overcome these challenges and make the therapeutic agent successful in pharmaceutical, clinical, and marketing aspects. In spite of the large number of drug delivery systems being introduced, the search for a much better one still continues. To obtain maximum therapeutic efcacy, it becomes necessary to deliver the agent to the target tissue in the optimum amount in the right period of time, thereby causing little toxicity and minimal side effects.
