ABSTRACT

Recommendations for Pregnancy and Mode of Delivery Ideally, women with unruptured aneurysms should be counselled before conception in order to discuss treatment options, taking into account their views and the size and characteristics of their aneurysm. In the general population, screening for intracranial aneurysms may be appropriate for people with two first-degree relatives affected by aneurysms, or with polycystic kidney disease (although no randomised controlled trial data exist to support screening in either situation) (13). Screening prior to conception in other situations cannot be recommended. If an intracranial aneurysm has been occluded, it need not be a consideration during pregnancy and should not influence the mode of delivery.
