ABSTRACT

First commercial machine was developed by Juran Metal Works Ltd., where they conducted research and development to build up technologies to extrat the arils from the fruits during 2000s. After receiving of the pomegranate fruits, fruits should be cured for a few days under shade to make the arils sensitive and thus can be easily separated from the peel. After that, fruits need to be washed to remove surface dirt. Thus, the whole fruit needs to be conveyed into machine where the skin is scored, the fruit

is broken open and the arils are extracted with the aid of water and air. Extracted arils are immersed in cold water and washed. Air-blown dry fans are required to separate arils from all other fruit parts leaving them pristine and whole. Thus, the fruits are ready for packing and serving.
