ABSTRACT

Insulin resistance is an impaired ability of insulin to e¬ectively lower blood glucose. It is a contributing factor in a number of metabolic abnormalities that increase risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.1 As such, measurement of insulin resistance has important applications for evaluating the e²cacy of interventions aimed at prevention.
