ABSTRACT

UE via multipoint coordination with other points. Figure 3.1 shows an example of mu ltipoint collaborative multipoint (CoMP) scheme.

e basic idea of CoMP transmission/reception is to have multiple network nodes (remote radio unit [RRU], eNB) cooperate with distributed or centralized structures to act as the LTE-A target. CoMP involves multiple cells cooperating to transmit to a single UE to improve the coverage for high data rates and celledge and system throughput. Multiple coordinated points could collaboratively construct a larger cooperative multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmitter in a supercell, where the downlink transmissions are jointly configured to avoid intercell interference. CoMP transmission and reception has been considered for LTE-A as a method to improve coverage for high data rates, cell-edge throughput, and system throughput. e distributed or centralized structures can be formed using multiple eNBs: one eNB contains one or multiple cells, one cell contains one or multiple remote radio units, or one RRU contains one or multiple antennas.
