ABSTRACT

CoMP was discussed in Chapter 3, and various MIMO-related topics and beamforming technology will be studied in detail in this chapter.

4.1 Wireless Channel Characteristics MIMO technology has been treated as an emerging technology to meet the demand for higher data rates and better cell coverage without the need to increase the average transmit power or frequency bandwidth. e MIMO structure successfully constructs multiple spatial layers where multiple data streams are delivered on a given frequency-time resource and linearly increases the channel capacity. e performance of a MIMO system is directly related to the received signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) and the correlation properties that are characteristic of the multipath channel and antenna configuration.
