ABSTRACT
As shown in Chapter 3, the fraction of the incident X-ray intensity transmitted by different parts of a patient will vary due to variations in thickness, density and mean atomic number of the body. This pattern of transmitted intensities therefore contains the information required about the body and can be thought of as the primary image.
