ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, we discussed how data can t into mathematical presentations such as regression analysis to make decisions easier and quantiable. In this chapter, we summarize some key items of understanding sampling techniques. The focus is to make the reader understand that it all starts with sampling and if the sampling is not appropriate and applicable, the results will not be accurate or reective of what is going on. There are many ways that the sample may be selected; however, here we will discuss the lot acceptance sampling plan (LASP), which is a sampling scheme and a set of rules for making decisions. The decision, based on counting the number of defects in a sample, can be to accept the lot, reject the lot, or even for multiple or sequential sampling schemes, to take another sample and then repeat the decision process.
